Clean Up Collection

If you live in an apartment/unit block, you must call your Strata Manager to confirm clean up guidelines before you book with Council.

Council’s Clean Up Collection service allows each residential property up to three clean up collections per year of up to 2m3for removal of bulky household items. Council clean up bookings are collected on Mondays and Tuesdays. Please review the below list of items we accept before booking your collection. Items that are not accepted will not be collected.

Make a Clean Up Collection Booking

Bookings are essential for this service. Download the StrathfieldHub App to make your booking.

For furniture and household items in good condition, contact The Bower Reuse and Repair Centre to donate to resell them back to the community at low cost or to get them to people in need and reduce the amount sent to landfill.

Potentially hazardous household chemicals (e.g. paints, poisons, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, etc) are not accepted by Council’s clean up collection service but can be disposed for free at a Household Chemical CleanOut event. For more information and dates, visit NSW EPA.

Residents are reminded that e-waste including unwanted televisions and computers are not accepted by Council’s clean up collection and normal household bin collection services. Televisions and e-waste contain hazardous materials that can pose environmental and health risks if not properly recycled or disposed. They also contain precious material that should be recovered as part of Australia’s commitment to a circular economy. For the most up-to-date database of all disposal avenues, visit the Australian Government’s Recycle Mate.

Clean Up Collection Guidelines

  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

If you live in an apartment or unit block, you must contact your building/strata manager to arrange a booking on your behalf.

Council does not provide clean up collection services for businesses or commercial properties.

    • Don’t put your waste out too early. Items should only be put out within 24 hours of your booking date at. Items placed out too early can become hazardous to the community and the environment.
    • Label your goods with a “Household Clean-up” note with your booking number. Attach the note to your items so your neighbours know it’s an official booked clean-up and not an illegal dump.
    • Place items neatly on the nature strip and do not block footpaths or roads. Households on corner blocks must leave materials at the front of their nominated address. If this is not possible due to safety reasons, please let the customer service team know prior to your collection date.
    • Size matters. We only accept up to 2 cubic metres per household clean-up for a single collection, unless you have booked a 4 cubic metres oversized clean-up collection.

  • Council only collects accepted items. Council reserves the right to refuse collection. Refer to the list below.
  • Loose items need to be contained or tied up. Loose items won’t be collected. Bag or box any small items to prevent littering and hazards. Garden organics should be bundled or bagged.
  • Separate mattresses from other household goods. Your mattresses are picked up by a separate truck so that they can be recycled responsibly. Help the team by making the mattress easy to collect by not putting anything on the mattress and away from any obstructions.
  • Non- presented collections will be marked off as “Not presented / Not out for collection” and residents will have to book another collection on the next available date.
  • A reminder email will be sent prior to the booked clean up service.
