Yellow Kerb Line Marking

Council has begun implementing yellow kerb line marking to enforce statutory No Stopping requirements as per the Australian Road Rules. This line marking may be applied at but is not limited to:

  •  Unsignalised intersections – as per the Australian Road Rules, a vehicle may not stop within 10m of an unsignalised intersection
  • Pedestrian crossings – as per the Australian Road Rules, a vehicle may not stop within 20m on the approach to or 10m on the departure from a pedestrian crossing; these distances may vary depending on local factors and additional infrastructure.
  • Sections of road where kerbside parking is not permitted.

This is being done to prevent illegal parking for increased road safety and to reduce the number of signs and stems installed into Council’s nature strips for an improved streetscape.

No Stopping signs and yellow line marking may be used individually or together for increased perception of No Stopping restrictions.

If you have any questions about this treatment, please contact Council’s Traffic and Transport department at (02) 9748 9999.
