Resident Parking Scheme

The Resident Parking Scheme allows residents who have inadequate off-street parking to apply for permits to park in their street or neighboring street without time restriction. Expired permits will not be valid, to continue parking in the street without restriction permits must be renewed prior to the expiry date (refer to permit for expiry). Non-permit holders must comply with the 2P or 4P time restrictions in these areas.

What are the parking permit scheme areas? Council currently has five resident parking schemes as follows:

Resident Parking Scheme 1

RPS1 involves streets bounded by Homebush Road, Redmyre Road, Raw Square, Pilgrim Avenue, Albert Road and Beresford Road. The scheme was implemented in November 2012.

Resident Parking Scheme 10

RPS10 involves streets bounded by Homebush Road, Albyn Road, The Boulevarde and Redmyre Road. The scheme was implemented in June 2013.

Resident Parking Scheme 20

RPS20 involves streets bounded by Loftus Crescent, Station Street, Parramatta Road, and Smallwood Avenue. The scheme was implemented in June 2015.

Resident Parking Scheme 30

RPS30 involves streets bounded by Underwood Road, Pomeroy Road and Ismay Avenue. The scheme was implemented in December 2016.

What is the purpose of the scheme?

The resident Parking Scheme allows residents who have inadequate off-street parking to apply for permits to park in their street or neighboring street without time restrictions.

The Visitor Parking Scheme is intended to assist residential visitors to park in close proximity to your residence without time restriction. Only residents of single dwellings can apply for a Visitor Permit and only one Visitor Permit will be issued to an individual residence per year (multi-unit dwellings do not qualify for a visitor permit).

 

Who is eligible?

Not all residents are eligible for permits. To be eligible for a parking permit under the scheme you must be a current resident of the property at which you have one or more vehicles registered, with inadequate onsite parking. Proof of residence and vehicle registration are required when applying for a parking permit. Please refer to the application form.

 

 

How can I apply?

To apply for a permit/s, please complete the Parking Permit Application Form(PDF, 74KB) and submit it to customer service, along with proof of residence and relevant documentation as per the application form.

Fees Applicable?

Residential Parking Permits (1 resident and 1 visitor permit for eligible Residents) are free of charge. Any additional permits will be charged at $65.00 per year.

Single Dwelling Eligibility

  1. A maximum of two Resident Parking Permits can be issued per household, living in single dwellings in the area covered under the scheme.
  2. Each single dwelling in the area covered under the Scheme, can be issued with One Resident Visitor Parking Permit on application;
  3. Up to two (2) permits are free, fees will be applicable for the third permit (refer to Strathfield Council’s Fees and Charges.

Multi Dwelling (Units) Eligibility

  1. A maximum of one Resident Parking Permit can be issued per dwelling of a residential apartment building in the area covered under the scheme;
  2. Residents of apartment buildings will not be eligible for Resident Visitor Parking Permits.

 

How do I display a permit?

Residential parking permits should be affixed on left hand side of the front windscreen. Visitor permits must be displayed on the front dashboard of the vehicle.

Both permits must be clearly visible from the outside if the vehicle.

 

Where can I park?

The vehicle must be parked within the designated parking areas. Please refer to the area listed on your permit and the street signage. Please note parking permits do not exempt permit holders to park in no stopping, no parking, bus zone, school zone, and disabled parking areas or other resident parking areas.

 

What if my permit is lost, stolen or damaged?

Council will replace parking permits in special circumstances. Please return the original permit along with all the relevant documentation. If the permit is lost or stolen a Statutory Declaration will need to be completed in order to support your replacement application.

Damaged or illegible permits should be returned to council along with the relevant documentation and original permit- even if it is in pieces. A new permit will be issued.

 

What if my permit is lost, stolen or damaged?

Peel off the permit and return to council’s customer service with the vehicles new registration details and proof of residence. Please do not try to transfer the permit to the new vehicle.

 

How long is a permit valid and how do I renew my permit?

Households must apply to renew permits. Permits last for a period of 12 months and therefore should be applied for annually. Please complete a new parking permit application form along with the relevant documentation and submit council’s customer service.
