Council Trialling Kerbside Metal Collections

Strathfield Council is committed to providing residents with accessible methods to dispose of household items correctly, and is now trialling kerbside metal collections as part of Council’s Clean Up service as of Monday 16 May 2022.

Council’s Clean Up service allows each residential property up to three clean up collections per year of up to two cubic metres for the removal of bulky household items.

When booking a Clean Up, residents will be prompted to advise whether they will be placing goods made from metal out for collection. Whitegoods such as fridges, washing machines, dryers and metal appliances are now accepted items for collection. A dedicated metal collection truck will collect metal goods from the kerb on booked collection days.

Mayor Matthew Blackmore says, “I am pleased to announce that Strathfield Council will be trialling a kerbside metals collection service.”

“This recycling initiative is important as valuable metals that may otherwise go to landfill, are recovered for re-use. Re-manufacturing new products from recycled metals supports a more circular economy and is better for our environment by saving valuable resources and energy.”
